Welcome back Funky Olive Family! The modern & romantic celebration of the year is next on the blog so you might want to stretch your scrolling finger! Matt + Jori stole our hearts from the very beginning. This stylish couple knew exactly what they were looking for and their high-end, tailored, yet ultra artistic and modern aesthetic was music to our designer ears. My favorite part of the design process with an engaged couple is when I get little signs that indicate that we were destined to work together from the very beginning. This happened when I transitioned into designing the vellum wrap to finish off Matt & Jori’s invitation suite. I decided to create a pattern with solid white lines similar to what was used throughout the other pieces but I wanted them to overlap and intersect to give the velum wrap some visual interest and movement. I thought it looked modern and chic but I wondered what Jori & Matt would think- was this a random idea!? Imagine my surprise when I got an email back saying that Jori loved it and especially so because it was reminiscent of the embroidered line work & patterning throughout her wedding gown (that I had never seen). This may seem like a small coincidence to some but to me, synchronicities such as these make me feel connected to the wonderful people I work with and design for. I like to think that we are working off the same wavelength and that is so important when many times we do not ever get to meet our wonderful couples in person. I was giddy looking through their photos especially when I caught a glimpse of the beautiful pattern on her jaw- dropping-picture-perfect-gown. We know how important the small details are to the couples we work with so to anyone out there reading this now, know that we will do the same for you too!

“Matt and I met 4 years ago almost to date after connecting on Bumble. We say we found each other right when we were meant to from day one. We both always knew this was our forever love story. Nothing ever seemed forced or rushed, everything just fell into place. I felt at home with Matt and felt nothing but unconditional love. We moved in together 6 months later, and included one of Matt’s best friends! No one saw us fall in love with each other quite like Ross did! We have always loved cooking together, sunsets on golf courses, surrounding ourselves with our best friends, and most of all, being in our home as a family with our fur baby, Colbie!

Matt took me to my favorite place on earth – the lake house – to propose last year. He arranged for a relaxing weekend up there, and then a Ray LaMontagne concert back downtown Sunday night. Little did I know, we were hardly in the door at the lake house before I felt Matt’s beating harder than normal. Then he was down on one knee telling me I have always been the one and asking me to marry him. Easiest yes in my life! We enjoyed the rest of the weekend just the two of us on the water, and then had a blast listening to Ray as we celebrated the happiest weekend of our lives!”
